Cabin fever yet? Tell us about it. We’re looking forward to getting out and doing some rafting this summer!
The mountains here in central Colorado have a healthy snowpack, and that means we have a great season of rafting to look forward to. From whitewater adventures to scenic family float trips, we can’t wait for warmer weather and to be out on the water with our guests.
As you think about getting out for summer adventures, here’s an overview of the rafting trip options that we have available here at Sage:
Take a look at our rafting trip options and pricing here. From early summer through September, we have a great variety of trips for any family or group.
Class II Trips
Our rafting trips on the upper Colorado River are perfect for families of all ages. You’ll raft through incredible canyon scenery, experience small rapids and have plenty of time to play and slash in the River. Participants as young as 3 years old can get in on the fun.
We have a wide variety of Class III trips available on the Colorado River, Gore Creek, the lower Eagle River and the Arkansas River. These whitewater trips are a ton of fun! Some of our class III trips are available to rafters as young as 6-years-old, while others can be more challenging. Depending on the age of participants, how much time you have, and what you’d like to experience, we can help plan the perfect rafting adventure.
For the adventure seekers, we have incredible class IV and V trips available on the upper Eagle River and the Arkasnas River. For rafters ages 16 and up, these are some memorable trips on some of the best whitewater in the country!
It’s our own little slice of heaven in Colorado. We’re blessed to enjoy this private mountain, all on a 6,000-acre ranch. It’s an incredible experience for families. And it’s an experience you won’t find anywhere else.
Our private mountain has more acreage than Vail ski area – without the lift lines. In fact, it’s exclusive to Sage guests. We’ve got the whole place to ourselves, creating an idyllic family snowmobile experience:
Snowmobiling here is special, “because we put the trails where we want to put the trails.” All 100+ miles of them! A fleet of snowcats and grooming equipment maintains our custom-designed trail system that runs throughout this spectacular mountain area.
It’s an authentic, Colorado backcountry experience. You’ll experience the quiet stillness of snowy aspen groves and towering spruce forests. You’ll glide through open meadows and then look off the vertical red-rock cliffs of the Eagle River canyon.
Your friendly guides, outstanding trails and a private mountain environment will make this a family experience to remember. Passengers as young as 5-years-old can enjoy a true Colorado mountain experience on the snow.

The whitewater-rafting season in Colorado is in full swing and we’ve enjoyed an awesome summer so far. With heavy spring snowpack across the state, we’ve experienced fun high water conditions throughout June and now well into July. Even as the summer moves along, most rivers are still running at normal or above normal levels.
Right here in the Vail valley we experienced outstanding rafting conditions on Gore Creek and the Eagle River. Now the Arkansas River and the Colorado River are also running at perfect levels. And with the warm summer weather that we’ve had, conditions have been ideal to be out playing in the water.
While our headquarters are here in Vail and most of our business comes from the Vail and Beaver Creek area, we offer a wide range of rafting options. From class II family floats to class IV and V adventures, it’s all available. In addition to our ‘home waters’ on Gore Creek, the Eagle River and the Colorado River, we also offer trips along the Arkansas, including the famed, “Numbers” section and Browns Canyon National Monument.
In case you didn’t see it, be sure and check out our blog post from last week, highlighting the Arkansas River and some of its highlights.
With warm weather and great water levels, we expect rafting conditions this year to be excellent well into the fall. If you’re planning a summer trip to the Vail or Beaver Creek area, be sure and give us a call. While the summertime rafting is awesome, there’s also something very special about those early fall trips. After all, there’s nothing quite like September in Colorado!

One of the things we love most about our jobs here at Sage Outdoor Adventures is being a part of our customers’ experience in the mountains and some very memorable moments.
Not all of those moments are this exceptional, but we recently had the opportunity to witness one of our customers proposing to his now fiancé on a snowmobile tour. Check out the video below.
Congratulations! We’re glad we could be a part of such a special memory.
Whether you’re on a family vacation or just looking for a new mountain experience, there’s nothing quite like connecting with your family or friends on a backcountry snowmobile adventure on one of the most historic and scenic private ranches in the Vail Valley!

Winter activities here at Sage Outdoor Adventures don’t end with snowmobiling. In addition to tours on the snow, this 6,000-acre ranch is home to one the finest sporting clays facilities in the Vail Valley and anywhere in Colorado for that matter. Colorado’s sunny winter days are a great time for groups to enjoy our sporting clays with a five-stand lesson.
When the sun is shining like it is this week, groups are having a blast! Winter shooting is open for groups of 10 or more. Our five-stand lesson will cover the fundamentals of sporting clays and of course, gun safety. “Five-Stand” is an exciting type of shotgun shooting that has clay targets coming from multiple directions. It’s a great time for family groups, corporate groups or bachelor/bachelorette parties.
Here are a few photos from earlier this week:
Whether you’re an experienced shooter or a total novice, our excellent instructors will make everyone feel welcome. The five-stand lesson usually ends with a friendly group competition! We use a combination of 12, 20 and 28 gauge shotguns to fit anyone’s experience level and size.
Just like our snowmobile tours, the winter sporting clays here at Sage Outdoor Adventures include complimentary transportation from your hotel. We provide shotguns, ammo, targets, a shooting vest, and ear and eye protection.
To learn more about the experience, please see our Winter Shooting Page. To book your group or to ask any questions, please call us at 970-476-3700. We look forward to seeing you here at the ranch soon for some winter sporting clays!
