FAMILY REUNION ACTIVITIES IN VAIL, COLORADO YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE THOUGHT OF

group of snowmobilers ready to go

You’re in charge of planning a family reunion in Colorado, and you want to take advantage of all the outdoor adventures the state offers. But what kind of activities can include such a wide range of ages, abilities, and personalities?

Sage Outdoor Adventures can help you plan the perfect outing for your crew. We offer family rafting trips in Colorado, as well as ATV tours, and snowmobiling trips, all of which are conducive to large groups. See a breakout of what we offer below. You’ll be surprised how enticing each option is for an unforgettable family reunion.

Experience the Exhilaration of Whitewater Rafting Together

When you think of whitewater rafting and you picture massive waves and intense paddling, you’re imagining Class IV or V rapids, which are appropriate for intermediate or experienced rafters. Here at Sage, we offer whitewater rafting near Vail at several different river locations with a variety of rapids.

Our most popular family whitewater rafting trip is the Upper Colorado River. Experience classic Colorado River Class II whitewater rapids over a two-hour excursion. These Colorado River rafting 1-day trips are perfect for those less experienced with the sport.

On this two-hour journey you will float through picturesque canyons, stop to take a dip in swimming holes, and enjoy small but fun rapids. Our Upper Colorado River family rafting trips start at Sage’s outpost in Dotsero, about 35 minutes from Vail. The minimum age for this Colorado River trip is 2 years old. The Class I and II excursions accommodate 8 to 10 people per boat.

Bring the Family on Exclusive Side-by-Side ATV Tours

ATV tours in Colorado are a top choice for family reunions because they’re unique, don’t require a lot of physical exertion, and children as young as 5 can ride (and as young as 16 can drive).

At Sage, we operate our side-by-side tours on private and public lands. We offer more than twice the amount of rideable terrain than other ATV tours in the Vail, Colorado area – 20,000 acres, to be exact! The trails on private land are especially enticing, as this is where we can really let loose.

The two-hour tours are our most popular. While our ATV base is 7 miles north of Wolcott, Colorado (about a 30- to 45-minute drive from the Vail area), we operate at several locations throughout the state. Up to four people can ride in an ATV.

Think Outside the Box & Book a Snowmobiling Trip

Vail is undoubtedly known for its incredible skiing opportunities, but have you ever whipped across the Colorado terrain from the seat of a snowmobile?

The views offered on these trips are a big reason why snowmobiling enthusiasts rate us among the best. With over 6,000 rideable acres, Sage’s backcountry snowmobile tours showcase Colorado views in a way you’ve never seen before.

We average about five snowmobiles per guide, which is the lowest industry ratio in the Vail Valley. Those ages 14 and up are able to drive a snowmobile, and ages 5 and up can ride as a passenger. Private tours are available.
