We’re having a blast this summer, meeting visitors to the Vail Valley from all over the U.S. and the world! Most of our guides will tell you that the best part of their job is having the opportunity to meet so many awesome folks and to show them this beautiful Colorado mountain country.

We love seeing and sharing all the great photos that our guests share on social media. We count ourselves very fortunate to be a part of your vacation memories. Being able to look back and see some of those photos makes it that much more special.

If you’re visiting the Vail or Beaver Creek area this summer and enjoy an adventure with us, we would encourage you to use the hashtag, #sageoutdoors on Instagram. Whether you are getting ready to hit the river, on a side-by-side ATV tour, a horseback ride, fly fishing or shooting sporting clays, we would love to see it and share it with the rest of the Sage Outdoor Adventures family!

Be sure and follow the #sageoutdoors hashtag to see all of the other fun shenanigans going on around here!

Our summer rafting season is going full-force, and side-by-side ATV riders are enjoying some serious mud-on-the-face fun. And with all that spring snowmelt, horseback riding guests have enjoyed a wonderful year for wildflowers. No matter what you snap a picture of, be sure and hashtag it with #sageoutdoors to share the adventure with the rest of the family here at Sage Outdoor Adventures!

Epic Colorado Combo Trips: Snowmobile and ATV Adventures

ATV and Snowmobile Combo Trip

What’s better than one kind of adventure? Two, of course! We’re now offering some awesome Colorado combo adventures. It’s a unique opportunity for combination side-by-side ATV and Snowmobile trips.

An epic tour of Colorado's backcountry

Epic Winter Activities No Matter the Weather

It continues to be a bizarre winter in the Vail Valley, with unseasonably warm temperatures and low snowpack. But that doesn’t mean we’re not having fun around here! In fact, we’re having an absolute blast here at Sage.

Our visitors will find there’s no shortage of awesome things to do. We are still offering beautiful winter horseback rides. And we’ve now added something even more unique.

For a very limited time, we are offering side-by-side ATV and snowmobile trips! These adventures allow guests to explore this 6,000-acre private ranch with more than 100 miles of custom trails. That’s an area larger than Vail ski area.

What to Expect on a Snowmobile & ATV Combo Trip

These trips take guests through big open meadows, old-growth timber, stunning aspen groves, and jaw-dropping views over the 2,400-foot deep Eagle River Canyon. From up here, we’ve got views of seven different mountain ranges. It’s simply a spectacular experience.

Epic deep powder snowmobilingTrips start at our base of operations, just a short ride from Vail or Beaver Creek, where we offer free hotel pickup. From the base, guests get to drive our high-end, side-by-side Maverick UTVs up the mountain and through one of the most historic ranches in the valley.

When the snow starts getting deep, guests then hop onto one of our new Ski-Doo snowmobiles and continue the tour through this magical winter wonderland.

Our side-by-side UTV tours are usually a higher cost than the snowmobile trips. But because we have to improvise this winter, we’re allowing guests to drive these $20,000 machines for the same price as a regular snowmobile tour!

Wildlife near Beaver Creek

Spot Colorado’s Unique Wildlife

Not only is the ranch beautiful right now, but also it’s loaded with wildlife. Our guests are seeing deer and coyotes daily, including some rare predator/prey interactions. Because of the low snowpack this season, the deer herds have not needed to migrate further down the Vail valley floor. They’ve stayed here on the ranch, and that’s keeping coyotes and other wildlife around too. In fact, some of our guests have been lucky enough to see mountain lion tracks.

These wildlife interactions have been a daily treat for our guests. While the weather certainly hasn’t been what we expected this season, it has been a memorable one. If you’re visiting the Vail or Beaver Creek area, be sure to give us a call and join us on one of these Colorado backcountry adventures!

After the Lifts Close: Enjoying Spring in Colorado

Many ski lifts across Colorado will make their final rotations of the season in April, and Sage will also close our snowmobiling tours around that time. While the winter season is coming to an end, it won’t be long until summer season picks up and there’s plenty to do to stay busy! But with a few weeks until our summer activities begin, you can be sure the crew here at Sage will be enjoying some well-deserved time off!

Spring Activities in Vail, Colorado

In the meantime, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the lingering snow in the high country, especially after a good year of snowfall. Enjoy the spring sunshine on a pair of snowshoes or cross-country skis. For the climbing enthusiasts, the hefty snowpack this season will allow for some outstanding routes on some of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks. This will be a great season for 14ers, with some perfect ski or glissade descents.

Hiking our National Parks

If you’re looking for things to do that don’t involve snow, there are plenty of options. Most hiking trails at lower elevations have opened up. This is a great time of year to visit Colorado’s red desert country. Colorado National Monument and Dinosaur National Monument provide ideal spring hiking conditions.

Not far away, national parks in Utah and Arizona are also great spring destinations. In fact, the Sage rafting team has made trips to raft the Salt River in Arizona before heading to the National Championships! Check out photos and updates from our practice runs and the racing event here.

Fishing the Pre-Runoff Rivers

Finally, anglers often enjoy an excellent spring fishing season when the pre-runoff conditions are good. Many bodies of water around the state fish very well in the late winter season. However, as runoff begins to take hold, these conditions will change rapidly. Luckily, our expert fishing guides know the best spots to fish and hook onto beautiful wild trout, even during peak runoff season. We’re equipped to take on those looking for flying fishing trips for beginners in Colorado – novice anglers are welcome!

Summer Activities to Look Forward To

As much as we enjoy our spring break, we can’t wait for summer to get back into full swing! We’re looking forward to some great rafting, horseback riding, ATV tours, and fly fishing adventures. Check our guided activities and book your spot now to get back out into the wildness with Sage. Until then, you can bet our team will be out enjoying the best of spring in Colorado!

Little kids with BIG toys

Greetings from the Sage Outdoor Adventures toy shop. It is here where the hopes and dreams of big kids are filled. In our workshop, our favorite elf’s name is Wesley. He’s our in-house mechanic who puts every snowmobile together— his reindeer is a yellow lab named Charlie.

What did you wish for when you were a little boy or girl? I wished for a pony and a motorcycle (I grew up with three older brothers so being a girly girl was never in the cards). My parents got me 15 My Little Ponies and a remote control car. I now work for a company that has real ponies and really fun ATVs & snowmobiles. I think my dreams came true…

Ride Horses in Colorado's BackcountryEvery single person who works for the company is really just a big kid who found a job that made their dreams come true. We are lucky enough that we get to play with really amazing “grown-up toys” everyday. We get brand new snowmobiles and ATVs every year. The day the Ski-Doo semi pulls into our driveway, our hearts skip a beat and it’s Christmas morning all over again.

A Big Toy: Sage's SnowmobileWaking up to fresh powder on the ranch—Christmas day. I didn’t know it was possible to have Christmas so many times throughout the year. BOY AM I LUCKY. If you’re looking to feel like a little kid again, join us this holiday season for some fun on our big-kid toys.

Happy Holidays!!

Love,

Kelly
